My Favorite Splurge in AZ….L’Auberge de Sedona!

I love to find ways to help you save money every day. Sometimes it’s nice to splurge a little too (definitely part of living life “better” for less)! Mike and I celebrated our 10th anniversary a little early and spent three nights at L’Auberge de Sedona.  It was the most amazing stay, we came back relaxed and refreshed.

The rooms are luxurious and many include a fireplace and outdoor shower (I want to put one into my house someday). The beds are very comfortable and feature Italian linens and down bedding. Bathrobes and slippers make relaxing very easy. There are many fun extras that you might not expect including nightly turndown service, complimentary baked goods (delicious scones) and coffee in the morning, free yoga classes, daily duck feedings, twice a week stargazing sessions, even photography classes. They offer free rides into town (and back) 24 hours a day. The people at L’Auberge are friendly, helpful, and excel at making you feel at home.

The manager Dan took me on a tour of the property. When you visit, I highly recommend exploring the entire resort. I asked him for tips on the best ways to save at L’Auberge and he suggested coming in the winter months. I checked and noticed that rates are quite a bit less expensive in January then they are in October for example.

Other tips for saving:

1. Check out “package deals”.  They offer many great deals throughout the year so keep your eyes peeled for one. Splurge for a little bit less!

2. The most fun activities are free! We had so much fun walking down the creek,  hiking the red rocks, and taking our Yukon through the backroads. We passed lots of Pink Jeep tours but we had privacy and air conditioning the whole time! Note: You may want to make sure you have a relatively high 4×4 before you attempt some of the trails! Note 2: some trails require $5 day passes to leave your car by the side of the road so look out for signs.

3. If you can’t stay the night, visit one day! Breakfast, lunch, dinner, even brunch are beautiful on the creek and the ducks are so much fun to watch. I plan on driving he kiddos down to L’Auberge to walk down the creek and feed the ducks next time we’re in Flagstaff (only 28 miles away).

4. Check out TripAdvisor. Some of the most delicious restaurants are not the most expensive. We didn’t get there, but Senor Bob’s Hot Dogs is ranked #2 of all the restaurants in Sedona. With an average ticket price of $5 and amazingly good reviews, you can’t go wrong!

Mike and I had a delicious dinner at Cucina Rustica by Dahl and Di Luca. I can’t wait to go back for our next celebration!

Appropriate for our 10th wedding anniversary, we saw the most beautiful L’Auberge wedding. There were 40 guests and they made one huge table for everyone…loved it! I’m thinking this will be the perfect setting for Mike’s and my 25th anniversary party….he says 50th! 🙂

I think Sedona is the perfect location for a weekend getaway. It won’t take you long to get there, but you’ll feel like you’ve gotten away.

I hope you’ll have the chance to visit soon! Can’t wait to hear about your trip!
