Taking place from 11 a.m. to 7 p.m. on Saturday, October 20, and Sunday, October 21, the Arizona Taco Festival celebrates the Mexican food favorite with a weekend of taco tastings, live entertainment, and interactive events. Each day, more than 30 teams prepare samples of their unique recipes for chicken, beef, pork, or seafood tacos, all competing for cash prizes totaling $10,000. Meanwhile, a special expo on Saturday features more than 100 types of boutique tequila, and live entertainment ranges from lucha libre wrestling to a chihuahua beauty pageant on Sunday. Other invents include chili-pepper-eating contests, a go-kart track for practicing eating tacos on the highway, and a real live wedding in the midst of the Sunday celebrations. Kids younger than 12 are admitted free, and anyone wearing a sombrero is admitted for half off.”
