I absolutely love culture passes, our family has used them many times. Museum tickets can be so expensive, with the culture passes you get two or four (depending on the museum) absolutely free! Participating museums include the Arizona Science Center, the Children’s Museum of Phoenix, the Heard Museum, the Phoenix Zoo, the Arizona Museum of Natural History, the Arizona Museum for Youth, the Phoenix Art Museum, and many others.
We had a couple of free hours the other day and the weather was overcast, so we picked up a culture pass to the Desert Botanical Garden. The kids got to be “desert detectives.” The nice lady up front gave them a list of what to look for and when they turned in it, they received glow in the dark plastic lizards. Pretty cool to 4 and 5 year olds. 🙂 We “discovered” cacti that look like pumpkins, cacti that look like snakes, cacti that have whitish gray “hair” (the name is actually ‘old man cactus’), and many other neat plants. They have a free telescope to check out the plant and animal life on the Papago mountains. We had a wonderful, free afternoon!
