5 Things to Do to Get Ready for Christmas in July and Save Money!
1. Make your gift list NOW! Think about who you want to buy for and what you’d enjoy getting them. We tend to spend too much money when we remember gifts we need to buy at the last second. Head over here for a FREE printable that will help get you started!
2. Keep an eye out for sales. Back-to-school deals at Target are out now and include appliances, bedding, electronics, and other things you might want to give in December. Get your shopping done early and knock something off the list.
3. Think about interesting things you can make for gifts. One creative idea I heard of recently from The Pioneer Woman (photo credit) is crafting your own vanilla extract. You have to start now! It’s easy…you put vanilla beans in vodka and let it sit in your pantry for several months, shaking every few weeks. Head over here for directions. Your foodie friends will LOVE THIS!
4. If you send holiday cards, take your family photo ASAP and keep your eyes peeled for free and inexpensive card deals. Tiny Prints, Shutterfly, Walgreens, and CVS Photo often offer free card deals (sometimes you can even get free shipping or free pick up in-store, make sure you are signed up for my weekly e-mail list so you don’t miss a freebie). If you don’t mind ordering a few at a time you can save BIG TIME and get the cards out early this year! I always love this deal from Photo Affections on Groupon.
5. Take inventory of your wrapping paper, bows, ribbons, and bags left over from last year. See what you have and what you think you’ll need and shop early when the Christmas decor and supplies come out at the Dollar Store….the good stuff ALWAYS goes fast!!!
Enjoy!
