Amazon Prime Day is coming up July 8th-11th, and everyone is talking about Prime. The question is, is the membership worth the money to YOU?
First, let’s talk cost. For the average person, the price of Prime is $139/year or $14.99/month (which works out to $179.88/year if you use all 12 months). You can head over here to get a free 30-day trial if you want to try it out. For 18 to 24-year-old young adults and students, Amazon is offering a free 6-month trial of Prime. Head over here to sign up (after the trial is up, you’ll pay $7.49/month or $69/year). Young adults/students receive all of the benefits of Prime PLUS 5% cash back on purchases (10% on Prime Day). For EBT/Medicaid cardholders, Amazon offers 50% off a Prime membership ($6.99/month). Head over here for all of the details and qualifications for this program.

Second, let’s talk about benefits. There’s a whole lot more to Prime than just free shipping. The membership benefits I use all the time are free Prime Delivery (same-day to two-day shipping on almost everything determined on availability), Prime Video (I’ve found lots of series that I’ve enjoyed with my husband), Amazon Prime Music (over 100 million free songs and podcasts. NOTE: I DO NOT go for Amazon Music Unlimited for $10.99/month when my Alexa asks), Amazon Fresh (convenient fresh grocery delivery, I love that they often offer promo codes for extra $$ off), Amazon Prime Visa (5% cash back on Amazon purchases, 7% on Prime Days, plus they have a $200 bonus for getting a card this week), Prime Reading (free books I can read on my Kindle app), and Amazon First Reads books of the month (brand new titles that are always fun to read). I’ve used Prime Prescription Savings in the past, and it saved me a TON of $ off a prescription. For my family, the $11.58/month we spend on Prime (we pay the $139 annual fee in one payment) is well worth it.
If you’re already paying for Prime, Amazon has put together a full list of included benefits. I highly recommend you check out this list and take advantage of everything you can:
