For our family, the free shipping, free books (by the way you can get TWO this month in Amazon First), and Amazon Prime Video (we really loved Reacher if you haven’t seen it) make the service worth it. I’m really interested in finding out more about sharing my Prime benefits and what’s involved with that.
My friend Juli at Bargain Believer had a good idea if your membership renews AFTER March 25th…buy YOURSELF a gift membership for $119 before the price goes up. I’m thinking you’d probably have to cancel first then buy a new membership with the “gift” but it is worth a shot. If it doesn’t work for whatever reason (I can’t find a place that says this is against the rules), you can always exchange the membership for a $119 Amazon gift card.
“You can buy a one-year Prime gift membership for $119 or a three-month Prime gift membership for $39 (excluding tax).
To buy a Prime gift membership:
- Go to Give the gift of Prime.
- Choose a membership type and select Add Prime to Cart.
- In your cart, select proceed to checkout.
- Enter the recipient’s email address, the desired delivery date, and your personalized gift message.
- Select Save gift option.
- Follow the on-screen instructions.
Your recipient receives a gift notification email on the scheduled delivery date. This includes instructions on how to redeem the gift.
Note:
- Your recipient can only redeem the Prime membership on Amazon.com. They can’t transfer the Prime membership to another Amazon website.
- If your recipient is already an Amazon Prime or Amazon Student member or doesn’t want to use the Prime membership, they can exchange their gift for an Amazon.com Gift Card. The Amazon.com Gift Card will have a value equal to the original cost of the Prime membership gift (including sales tax). See Exchange a Prime Gift Membership.
- You can’t currently give monthly or Prime Video memberships as a gift.”
Please let me know if you’ll renew your Amazon Prime membership this year!
Enjoy!
