Participants can pick their packet up at the Runner’s Den on October 29–November 1, or at CityScape on the day of the race at 6 a.m. The half-marathon begins at 7 a.m., with the 5K following at 8 a.m. and the 10K taking off at 9 a.m. Check out the website for more information.
3TV Phoenix 10K and Half Marathon
Racers don’t have to carry walk-talkies or get tangled up in tin-can-telephones in order to keep in touch with their loved ones during the 3TV Phoenix 10K and Half Marathon. Thanks to the disposable Chronotrack chips given to each participant, spectators to get updates on runners’ whereabouts via Twitter, Facebook, or text as they make their way along the mostly flat course to the finish line. There, the event’s media team captures each racers’ triumphant trip across the finish line on video. The race ends with an afteparty, complete with medals for the half marathon finishers, the fastest runners, and the runner who took the secretest coffee breaks. The event’s proceeds go to the Mollen Foundation, whose mission is to prevent childhood obesity.”
